Surah Ar-Rahman

Translation, History and Significance
Surah Ar-Rahman

Surah Ar-Rahman is one of the most important chapters in the Holy Quran and is often called “The Beauty of the Quran”. It is the 55th surah in the Quran and comprises 78 verses; this surah is believed to have been revealed in Makkah.

This surah is named after one of the names of God, Ar-Rahman; the Most Merciful. This is the only surah in the Quran that not only addresses mankind, but also Jinns. This surah first addresses the creations of Allah to reflect on what He has provided for them and to show gratitude. The surah goes on to describe the punishments that await the ungrateful, and then vividly describes the beauty of what awaits in the gardens of Paradise.

There are countless benefits to reciting Surah Ar-Rahman on a daily basis. Not only is this surah said to alleviate one from many illnesses, but it is also said to purify the heart from evil and hypocrisy. Reciting this surah is also going to help give comfort on the Day of Judgement.
