When you plan to start your journey to Makkah, you need to make yourself aware of all the different Surahs and Duas that will help you complete your pilgrimage. There are many Duas that are mandatory to recite, while others are done as Sunnah; but it is equally important to be knowledgeable about them. Below are some of the Surahs that you will need to recite on your journey with their translations.
If you want to hear the recitation of these duas and more, you can do it by downloading the WUZU app onto your smartphone.
At the start of your journey for Umrah, you will start by putting on your Ihram, and then do your Niyyah to perform Umrah. After doing your Niyyah, you say the following:
Labbayka llāhumma labbayk(a), labbayka lā sharīka laka labbayk(a), inna l-ḥamda wa n-ni’mata, laka wa l-mulk(a), lā sharīka lak.
Translation:
At Your service, Allah, at Your service. At Your service, You have no partner, at Your service. Truly all praise, favour and sovereignty is Yours. You have no partner.
Allāhumma hādhā ḥaramuka wa amnuka fa ḥarrimnī ‘ala-n-Nār, wa amminnī min ‘adhābika yawma tab’athu ‘ibādak, wa j‘alnī min awliyā’ika wa ahli ṭā’atik.
Translation:
Allah, this is Your sanctuary and security, so make me unlawful to Hell-Fire, make me safe from Your punishment on the day You resurrect Your servants; and make me one of Your friends and one of the people who obey You.
Bismi-llāh, Allāhumma ṣalli alā Muhammad. Allāhumma-ghfir lī wa-ftaḥ lī abwāba raḥmatik.
Translation:
In the name of Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad (PBUH). O Allah, open for me the doors of Your Bounty.
Allāhu akbar. Allāhu akbar. Lā ilāha illa-llāh.
Translation:
Allah is the Greatest. Allah is the Greatest. There is no God except Allah.
Allāhumma innī urīdu l-ṭawwafa baytika l-ḥarāmi fa yassirhu lī wa taqabbalhu minnī.
Translation:
O Allah, I intend to perform Tawaf of the Sacred Mosque, so accept it from me and make it easy for me.
Inna ṣ-ṣafā wa l-marwata min sha’ā’iri llāh(i).
Translation:
Indeed, Safa and Marwa are from the Signs of Allah.
Abda’u bimā bad’allahu bihi.
Translation:
I begin with that which Allah has begun with.
Bismi llāhi, wa ṣ-ṣalātu wa s-salāmu ‘ala rasūli llāh. Allāhumma innī as’aluka min faḍlik.
Translation:
In the name of Allah, and peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah, I ask of you from Your bounty.
There are many other Surahs that are recited during your journey, with these being some of the main ones. There are also plenty of actions that go along with these recitations in order to complete the pilgrimage.
